Well it may not be "casting news" per say, but it's the starting point. Lionsgate has confirmed to the Wall Street Journal's Speak Easy Blog, that Debra Zane has been hired as casting director for the big screen adaption of The Hunger Games. Many had speculated that Debra would be hired for the job, since she has worked with Gary Ross before on both Seabiscuit and Pleasantville. Her recent accomplishments include hiring a huge cast of characters for the final Twilight film, Breaking Dawn. So, although this does not come as a surprise, it's great to finally have this officially confirmed by Lionsgate. Lionsgate also confirmed that no actors have auditioned yet, but they realize that fans and bloggers have been speculating on the casting process for months “There is this fan ardor and frankly good ideas that you don’t want to discount. We’re definitely paying attention to it,” This means that they are paying attention to who fans want to see cast as Katniss and Peeta and other such characters. Though this does not mean that the fan choice will be the final decision. It is fantastic to hear that they are paying attention to what the fans are hoping for in regards to casting choices. So, get ready, with a casting director in place, we should be hearing some casting choices soon! www.downwiththecapitol.net/2011/01/breaking-dawn-casting-director.html

I heard for Eclipse too is that right? Breaking Dawn had a huge cast to find too, so she's obviously up to the task. Plus since she has worked with Gary Ross before things should go very smoothly! So excited!!
